U.S. women learn path for World Cup championship quest

By By Ann Killion The American women’s soccer team’s French quest for a fourth championship will get what appears to be an easy start in group stage of the 2019 Women’s World Cup. However, World Cup journeys are not what they always first appear.
“There is no easy path,” head coach Jill Ellis said Saturday.
The U.S. women will begin their defense of their 2015 World Cup title on June 11 in the northeastern French city of Reims, against Thailand.
