A near-pick, then a pick on back-to-back plays for Stanford

By By Tom FitzGerald It was a night of picks and near-picks Saturday in Stanford’s 48-17 victory over Oregon State.
Cardinal linebacker Bobby Okereke was denied an interception on Oregon State’s first possession. A replay found he had trapped the ball.
That incompletion set up a 4th-and-8 play at the Stanford 37. On the next play, quarterback Jake Luton again threw the ball to a Cardinal, safety Frank Buncom, who made the catch after slipping and falling.
Stanford nearly had another interception later in the first quarter. Paulson Adebo broke up Luton’s pass intended for Trevon Bradford, and freshman Kendall Williamson nearly grabbed the deflection.
