Juggled racing calendar adds a week to Alameda run

By By Larry Stumes Because officials from Golden Gate Fields and Northern California’s racing fairs couldn’t agree on a calendar for 2018, the California Horse Racing Board imposed its own.

The major changes involve the Alameda County Fair, which hosts a four-week season beginning Friday in cooperation with the nonprofit Oak Tree Racing Association. Previously, the meeting was three weeks long.
