Giants’ Ty Blach saves bullpen, Giants in long relief outing

By By John Shea MIAMI — Ty Blach was the Giants’ Opening Day starter, but the Giants also envisioned him as a long reliever.

On Thursday, he pitched 62/3 scoreless innings in relief, a key reason they beat the Marlins 6-3 in 16 innings. Blach entered in the 10th after the Giants lost the lead in the ninth, and he didn’t need any help until there were two outs in the 16th.
