Kamala Harris bill would waive fees for immigration documents after disasters

By By Hamed Aleaziz U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris introduced a bill Tuesday aimed at waiving fees for replacing immigration documents destroyed in natural disasters, such as the fires that ripped through Northern California last October.

The bill, the Disaster Victims Passport and ID Relief Act, would apply to those who qualify for Federal Emergency Management Agency aid and would get rid of fees for replacing passport books (more than $100), green cards ($455), and employment authorization documents ($410), among other papers.
