Massive apartment fire in San Jose requires rescues, daring escapes

By By Sophie Haigney Four people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and minor injuries after a massive fire at a 36-unit apartment complex in San Jose, officials said.

The fire started around 5:53 a.m at 2079 McLaughlin Ave. near Highway 101 and Tully Road and the first engine reportedly arrived within five minutes, said San Jose Fire Capt. Daniel Vega.
