Homeland Security suspends immigration enforcement in Wine Country disaster areas

The federal government has suspended immigration enforcement operations in the areas of Northern California hit by a string of destructive wildfires, Homeland Security officials said Friday. “Our thoughts remain with those impacted by this tragedy, while our highest priority remains the preservation of life and safety wherever possible,” said James Schwab, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
