Jeff Samardzija gives up 7 runs as Giants fall to Padres again

By By John Shea The momentum certainly has not shifted after everyone except All-Star Buster Posey took four days off to reset, refresh and re-energize.

Sunday’s 7-1 loss to San Diego was over early when the Padres scored seven times off Jeff Samardzija, who coughed up three-run homers to ex-Giants catcher Hector Sanchez and Corey Spangenberg.

The Padres won two of three in a series that might have detoured the Giants as the trade deadline (July 31) approaches.

Johnny Cueto was placed on the disabled list with more blister problems.
