Jays’ Josh Donaldson leaves game with strained calf

Toronto third baseman Josh Donaldson strained his right calf and left Wednesday’s 5-3 loss at the Tampa Bay Rays in the seventh inning.

The AL MVP was unable to run out a grounder, limped back to the dugout and was replaced at third base in the bottom of the inning by Darwin Barney, who moved from second base.

Donaldson hit a three-run homer in the third off Matt Moore.

The Angels placed left-hander Andrew Heaney on the 15-day disabled list with a flexor muscle strain, adding another setback to their rough two-game start to the season.
