Dog walkers sue GGNRA to fetch data in leash-law fight

Angry dog owners filed a lawsuit against the National Park Service charging that the agency has been unresponsive to their records request about pending rule changes that would curb the off-leash freedoms of pooches in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court on Tuesday by the group Save Our Recreation, seeks to compel the Park Service to produce data regarding how many dog walkers use the recreation area, what their impact is and other information specific to certain sites within the 80,000-acre urban park that stretches from Marin to San Mateo County.
