Water main break causes traffic hassles in Emeryville

Several blocks of busy San Pablo Avenue were closed to traffic Tuesday morning after a water main broke in Emeryville, authorities said.

Andrea Pook, a spokeswoman for the East Bay Municipal Utilities District, said an 8-inch cast iron water main broke and cut off water service to a handful of businesses in the area.

Pook estimated that it could take until the end of the day Tuesday to fix the main, but it was unclear how long traffic on San Pablo would be affected.
