University of California officials, in the wake of recent concerns over too many out-of-state admissions, said Monday that offers of admission to California freshmen grew by 15 percent this year, with a total of 66,123 state students offered a spot at one of the system’s nine campuses.

“We’ve intensified our efforts to boost enrollment of Californians at the University and all indications are that these efforts are working,” said UC President Janet Napolitano in a statement.
