Much is being said about government officials who have actually committed acts of treason against the Republic. The fact that one of those is the former First Lady is not so shocking when you see the pattern of a life’s behavior of deception and deceit. But the cries that are heard from many points in America for a return to righteous living and the core beliefs of the Founding Fathers beg for us to ask a question not dissimilar to that asked so profoundly by President John F. Kennedy in the early 60’s. “Ask not what your Country can do for you but ask what you can do for your Country.” And what is the relevance of that inspiring and almost rhetorical question today? For the Christian it is important to clear our own conscience of sin and the violation of Gods laws, before we start the process of cleaning up our nation. Put our own “houses in order” before we take on the monumental task of repairing the damaged house of state.
God demands a clean vessel in our worship of Him. He will not accept us unless we have “come clean” as it were, confessing our sins, asking for His forgiveness, and then having been cleansed we can move forward, clean vessels ready for the Masters use. And that is my entreaty to all of us today. Clean up your own personal House before you step out to clean the House of our Nation. Take care of “the beam in your own eye” before you attempt to stop the sinking ship of state. God blesses the humble contrite heart and spirit and that is the starting point to any “revival” of this dead and putrid nation.
