We have an opportunity to do a rare thing. That would be to show our elected representatives the way of courage and commitment. But we need to do it in such a way that our reps feel affirmed and worthy. Tearing them down and ranting doesn’t cut it. The old adage that “you win more friends with honey than vinegar” is at truism that shouldn’t be ignored. The pressures on our representatives are many and in case you didn’t know it constant. The Obama dis-information psy-ops gang are at the doors of our representatives, having coffee with their staffs, maneuvering and cajoling, arm twisting and warning, and finally having their way with them in the old boy “we are in this together” clubby, head lock.
It falls on we the citizens to make sure that our reps know that we care about them, their families and their futures and that we want to support them in doing the right thing. They know the difference between the threats of the carrot and the stick and our wise and prayerful support and in most cases want to do the right thing. But they need our encouragement to do that. Know this, subtle hints of where non-cooperation with Obama will lead are in every full court press of these hired hit men and women whose sole purpose is to keep our reps in line. The carrots seem to be working with money, committee placements, praise and privilege being used effectively on them. If all we bring to the table are vague or veiled threats and talk of reprisal down the road, we will not get what we want. What carrots are we offering? Very few other than our heartfelt thanks. But praying for our elected folks is a powerful force to be reckoned with. Visit them in Washington and bow your heads in prayer with these embattled people and ask for Gods “hedge of protection, hedge of thorns, and wisdom” to be their lot.
We can win if we do it Gods way. Our representatives in government need to see us as examples of what they should be doing and we can let God lead from there.
